English II Final Writing

A student deciding his/her own grade? How outrageous; that is crazy. My grades have been from a C to a B range. For my final grade for this class I believe I deserve a B because I would try my best to participate in class and understanding most of the class lessons.
I think you probably think I deserve a C for this quarter because I’ve been slacking a lot and how I can do so much better. I have not turned in my villanelle and sonnet on blogger but I still have time to turn it in. I know I’ve begun to do less than what I usually do but I still understand what’s going on in class. I don’t think you should give me a C because I give a lot effort still.
I deserve a B because I would try my best to participate in class. I would raise my hand when you ask us to share our journals. I would share my thoughts on something we just went over. Also when we have an art gallery walk, I would usually keep my hands because I had something to share with the class. By participating in class it helps show that I’m actually learning in class.
Another reason why I deserve a B is that I understand most of the lessons that you teach. For example when we learned the Greek and Latin prefix and suffixes I got an A on most of them. I understand how to write a paper now. On my papers that I write I give a good hook and thesis statement. I’m still improving on how to analyze the text and summarizing the story. This is why I think I deserve a B.
In conclusion, I think I deserve a B because I try my best to participate in class and understand most of the lessons. By participating in class it shows that I understand what’s going in class. All of your teaching and lessons were very easy to understand. So Mr. Allam what do you think I deserve in your class?

Riddle Poem

I am feathered creature
My beak,
Is my best feature
I can maneuver to the highest peak,

I got wings and can fly
I go very very high,
Don't try to catch me
Even I wouldn't try

I gather sticks and grass
To make a nest,
I can catch a bass
Then come back and rest,

When I wake
I like go vroom and kiss the sky
I want something to take
But I won't take pie
Do you know who am I?

Parent Letter

Dear Father and Mother:
Do you know how hard it is to be a teenager? Well it’s really hard because when you are almost 16 and still don’t have a car it really sucks! I really want to be able to drive my Honda Accord that I got from Grandpa but I understand you are afraid that I’m not responsible enough to drive by myself. If you let me drive I could take myself to places without you wasting your own gas, and I would help support the family.
I probably already have a great idea what you might say because the insurance cost a lot. I could always find a job to pay for it. I know when you read this letter you are going to say “Do you know how hard it is to find a job and how committed I have to be to work.” Then you will go on and on about how you and mom worked on the fields in Cambodia since you were at least five or six. I know that I don’t have the working experience like you and mom but by finding a job I can finally learn how you and mom feel. I think you and mom are just afraid that I might do something bad once you give me a car but I won’t and take full responsibility.
If you two would let me drive the Honda Accord, I could take myself to places without wasting your own gas and time. Doesn’t that sound nice? You will be able to get more work accomplish. Think about it, you always complained about me coming over and asking you to take me somewhere but now if you will let me drive you won’t have to deal with that. You see on Friday’s and Saturday’s you will have more peace at home. That will mean Andrea and I won’t be at home because we are probably hanging out with our friends. If you think me taking the car is just about having fun then you are wrong because it can also be use to help you with errands and more.
Another reason you should let me have the car is because I could help support the family. Like by getting a job, once I get a job I could pay for the insurance. I could also help pay the house bills because I know sometimes you might not have enough money to pay the bills but once I have a job you won’t have to worry about that. I bet that sounds really nice to you. I could help you run errands like: taking grandpa and grandma to Missouri on Friday and then picking them up on Sunday, buying groceries for you so you have more time to prepare cooking meals. Also with the left over money I make I can use that to buy my own gas, so I don’t have to bother you about not having money to support myself. See all the things I could help you with once I have a car.
To end this letter, I think you and mom should hand over the Honda Accord from grandpa because like I said earlier, I could take myself to places with bothering you two and I could help support the family. I would really appreciate if you would take time to read this letter and consider my proposal. If you decide to accept this proposal I promise that I will keep my grades up and take full responsibility of the vehicle. I will not let you two down. Love you mom and dad, make the right choice please.

-Love,

POW# 3

Dear Dr.Berry,

Are you tired of school? Well I am very tired of it! I understand that we had six snow days this school year so far and that we only have four built in. Should Dr. Berry extend school two days longer or not? I think Dr. Berry should not extend school because some families already have vacations plans and some students have sports program to attend.
Some say extending school two days longer would cause some conflict with our students and  their families. Others may argue that we should extend school because we have missed too many days and we have a lot of school work to catch up on. Some staff members believe that that extending school two days longer would help us accomplished more in class. I disagree with that because I believe that we students could handle the extra work to be given.

My first reason why Dr.Berry shouldn't extend school is that families have planned vacations for the kids right after school ends. It would be a hassle for families to changed their plans. Dr. Berry how would you feel if your vacations plans had to be changed due to extension of school? Well I know for a fact I wouldn't be happy. Just think about it, if school extended for two more days, you could ruin a family bonding time. Now that wouldn't be nice would it Dr.Berry?

Another reason is that a lot of our students have sports program to attend to after school. Students like to use their summer to improve their skills in their sports. We need our practice. Dr.Berry you don't want us to miss our programs do you? A lot of programs like to start after school is out and if school is extended we might miss our first couple of days. No one likes being behind of schedule. If you don't extend school for two days we could be prepared. I know you want one of the Olathe schools to go to State, so if you let us attend this programs on time we could make it possible. Nothing is impossible.

In conclusion, Dr.Berry should not extend school because we don't want to ruin family vacation plans and student's sports program. I'm pretty sure the staff does not want to listen to all these complaints if you extend school. Now Dr.Berry make the right choice to not extend school. If not good luck with all the complaints and all the phones calls. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes when that happens.
